I am now curious as to how the Vinsmokes would rate Sanji's casual wardrobe. Bucket hat, tricolour board shorts, crocs and a pineapple sword kebob? I don't know, for some reason I think Yonji would be all for it.

If you ask Sanji for fashion advice he'll nail it every time because he can see the beauty in everyone else and how to showcase it. It's dressing himself that is a fucking Problem. When Zeff essentially forced him to pick out some clothes that weren't chefs whites he settled on suits because that's what the classy male customers on the Baratie tended to wear. A black suit, crisp shirt and tie: a straightforward, elegant uniform that he doesn't have to agonise over every day.

Putting together an outfit that isn't a suit is a fucking ordeal, and it's at least half because when he doesn't feel like wearing a suit he's thinking longingly about clothes he can't picture himself in without flinching.

On hot days when he's put aside his blazer and rolled up his sleeves he daydreams about how comfortable it would be in the flowing, drapey fabric of a sundress. He winds up with a collection of appaling aloha print shirts instead.

Robin dresses to please herself, and that often involves skirts that are almost scandalously short. Sometimes she wears stockings with a cheeky peek of garter lace showing, sometimes her long, gorgeous legs are bare. Sometimes she wears outrageous stiletto boots that come all the way up to her thighs. Sanji thinks he could kick through the whole Red Line in those boots. He settles for shorts and feels kind of self-concious about his hairy legs.

When the limited excitement of choosing what colour tie to pair with which shirt gets stale he imagines how much fun it would be to mix bold colours and patterns with abandon like Nami does. He finds the loudest pieces in his closet and puts them together: yellow trousers, orange jacket, a polka-dot shirt. It's... not the same. He wears it anyway.

Why are there so many ZoSan fics out there where Zoro's fashion sense is the butt of the joke when we all know that of the two, Zoro is the one who has consistently served fire fits every arc and Sanji has grabbed the brightest thing he could find to wear while getting dressed in the dark?

Like... 👀 I'm just saying.
